AMARILLO’S only BEACH!
Established in 2008
What began as Gram’s Burger Farm has grown into one of Amarillo’s most unique destinations. Originally founded in 2008, the business is now owned and operated by Gram’s grandson, who reimagined and rebranded the property as Shark Beach.
After moving to Amarillo from South Padre Island, the Bailey family wanted to bring a little piece of island life to the Texas Panhandle. Following the passing of Gram in 2019, the restaurant temporarily closed before reopening in 2020 with a renewed vision and a passion for creating a one-of-a-kind beach experience in Amarillo.
The first year focused primarily on serving burgers and providing much-needed takeout options during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the overwhelming support from the Amarillo community, Shark Beach quickly began to grow.
In the years that followed, we expanded the property and the experience:
2021: Added a patio, a small beach area, beer service, and acoustic live music.
2022: Expanded the beach, introduced mixed beverages, and welcomed larger bands and more live music events.
2023: Continued expanding the beach atmosphere and launched our first ticketed tribute concerts.
2024: Added five additional acres, including our Warehouse venue, which provides covered seating, a merchandise shop, and a home for winter activities and events.
2025: Hosted the inaugural Sand Castle Days of Amarillo, welcoming thousands of visitors and providing more than 1,500 local students with a free immersive beach field trip experience.
Today, Sand Castle Days continues to grow into one of Amarillo’s signature annual events. We are proud to partner with communities such as Virginia Beach and South Padre Island to bring world-class master sand sculptors from around the globe to the Texas Panhandle each September.

From May through October, Shark Beach hosts more than 80 free live music events along with 8–10 ticketed tribute concerts each season.
